TOPIC: Meister Eckhart – The Christian Vedantin
Aug 1-4 (Thu-Sun): Swami and some devotees will be travelling to Rochester New York for the Annual Scriptural Study Retreat organized by Vedanta Society of Rochester. The topic for this year is ‘Taittiriya Upanisad, Chapter II. Swami will be back on Sunday night.
Aug 6-10 (Tue-Sat): Children’s Day-camp; 9 am to 4:00 pm
Sun Aug 11: Swami goes to Monroe, NJ to a devotee’s home to conduct a retreat.

Sun Aug 25, 10 am to noon: Special Service at Annisquam Village Church, 820 Washington St, Gloucester, MA to commemorate Vivekananda’s lecture there on Aug 27, 1893.
Aug 31- Sep 01: Swami travels to Vivekananda Retreat Ridgely Manor, NY to give a Labor Day Retreat at Ridgely on ‘Hafiz’s Poems of Divine Love’.
THE SOCIETY REMAINS CLOSED FOR THE REGULAR PROGRAMS TILL SEPT 08. NO DAILY MEDITATION/PRAYERS/CLASSES, EXCEPT TUESADYS FROM 07/09; THE YOGA CLASSES EVERY TUESDAY 5:30-6:30 PM WILL CONTINUE THROUOUT SUMMER.
Past Events
June 26 -Jul 01: Swami gave a retreat at the Vedanta Center there on 15th Chapter on Bhagavad Gita on Fri Evening and Sat. On Sun morning he spoke to the children and give a class on Meditation Mantra of Sri Ramakrishna. From there, he went to the Vedanta Center of Gr. Washington DC, MD where he met several devotees on Sun & Mon, gave a lecture on Mon evening to over 60 devotees gathered and returned on Tue Jul 02 morning.
Thu, Jul 4, 11 am to 1:00 pm: Independence Day Celebration. Singing, readings and reflections; potluck lunch. There were many songs, readings and a lecture by Gordon Walker on ‘True Independence’.
Fri, Jul 5, 6pm to Sun Jul 8, 5:00 pm: Meditate-a-thon -the Weekend of Silent Meditation. 9 devotees participated.
Sat, Jul 13, 10:30a-1p:Thinking of ‘M’ (Mahendranath Gupta) at Roy’s Home in W. Wareham, MA. There was reading, music, short reflections and lunch. 35 attended.
Sun, Jul 14, 11a to 4p: Guru Poornima function. Worship, devotional Singing, Reflections, Prasad-Lunch, Music Concert by Shuchita Rao and her students. Over 100 attended.
Fri Jul 19-Mon Jul 22: Swami traveled to Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto giving Vedanta lectures returning on Mon night. All the programs were very well attended.
Fri Jul 26, 6:00 pm to Sun Jul 28, 1:00 pm: Residential Young Adult Retreat 10 Young adults attended. The theme was QUESTIONING THE DEATH.

JUL 09, 16, 23, 30: Meister Eckhart – The Christian Vedantin
On Jul 09, there was the general introduction, outline of the life of Meister Eckhart and the importance of studying his literature for a Vedanta student were discussed. The Jul 16th class contained the discussion on excerpts from his ‘TALKS ON INSTRUCTION’. These talks were given to the intimate followers at the monastery (mostly Nuns). The next two discussed the 1st Sermon in the book by Raymond B. Blackney. It is titled ‘This is Meister Eckhart from whom God hid nothing’. It gave a process by which the God’s word gets into a spiritual aspirant and the Son of God is born in the soul of that person.
