Synopses of Past Classes
(All classes given by Swami Yogatmananda, unless otherwise stated)

Summer Tuesdays on: Original Tao: Nei-Yeh – ‘Inward Training’

Class 1: July 10
A general introduction, history, special place of this text -Nei-Yeh – in Taoist literature and reading of the first verse. According to A. C. Graham ‘It is possibly the oldest mystical text in China’. Prof Roth mentions: It represents earliest extant mystical practice common to all earliest sources including Lao Tzu and Chuang Tzu, it is appropriate to call it Original Tao.
Class 2: July 17
This is ‘training’ – that is, it needs to be practiced in life. ‘The Way’ is The Vital Essence of all things. It is THIS that brings them to life. The training to be given to our mind is – be aware of this ONE essence of everything; differences in things and people are like superficial differences in animal crackers.
Class 3: July 24:
‘The Way’  IS LOST Inevitably because of sorrow, happiness, joy, anger, desire and profit-seeking. So, the practice to regain it is not to get caught in these things.
Class 4: July 31
‘The Way’ is near and far. Impossible to locate, being everywhere and in everything. It makes everything function. It is in the well-organized, controlled mind, it is discernible. ‘The Way’ ties everything into ONE without destroying the distinctions. It therefore is LOVE.
