II.39:O Partha, this wisdom has been imparted to you from the standpoint of Self-realization. But listen to this (wisdom) from the standpoint of Yoga, endowed with which wisdom you will get rid of bondage of action.

II.40: Here there is no waste of attemp; nor is there any harm. Even a little of this righteousness saves one from great fear.

II.41: O scion of Kuru dynasty, in this there is a single, on-pointed conviction. The thoughts of the irresolute ones have many branches indeed, and are innumerable.

Summary of this lecture:

'Samkhya' in this context is not to be confused with the Samkhya Philosophy, but simply means the intellectual understanding of the ideal. It is akin to getting the address of the destination; Yoga means undertaking the journey to get there. Both are necessary, they together form the useful whole. One cannot get to the destination without having the address and only having the address and not going is carrying a useless burden. The Yoga means actually directing the life in its entirety towards the goal. Sri Krishna emphasizes that in doing this, unlike investing in agriculture or in share-market, there is no loss of the efforts put in, nor are there any bad side-effects.
Then he says that if we are looking for success, we have to have single-pointed attention and determination.
