II.39:
O Partha, this wisdom has been imparted to you from the standpoint of
Self-realization. But listen to this (wisdom) from the standpoint of
Yoga, endowed with which wisdom you will get rid of bondage of action.
II.40:
Here there is no waste of attemp; nor is there any harm. Even a little
of this righteousness saves one from great fear.

Summary
of this lecture:
After discussing the transcendent, immanent and immortal nature of the
Self and showing Arjuna that from secular as well as the spiritual point
of view he must adhere to his duty, Lord Sri Krishna now takes up the
most important issue of practicality of the spiritual ideal. What has
been discussed from intellectual angle (samkhya), same will now be discussed
from the practical angle (yoga). The result of the practical implementation
of the intellectual understanding about the Self will be 'liberation
from the bondage of karma'. This will be elaborated in the coming verses.
To assure Arjuna (& all of us), Sri Krishna tells that there is
no loss to be incurred in this 'investment' nor is there any ill-effect
of it. Even a little of the Yoga, is capable of great achievement. It
will liberate from the terrible fear of death.
